Goodland

Town and administrative headquarters of Sherman County, northwest Kansas; population (1990) 5,000. It is located 169 km/105 mi north-northwest of Garden City and 32 km/20 mi east of the Colorado state border. The town is a distribution centre for wheat and livestock. Nearby is the site of the 1867 American Indian massacre of a cavalry squad led by Lyman Kidder.
