Goodman

Agricultural town in Holmes County, central Mississippi; population (1990) 1,300. It is situated on the Big Black River, 77 km/48 mi north-northeast of Jackson. It is home to the Holmes Community College (1925) and is the birthplace of folklorist John Lomax (1867) and Civil War historian David Donald (1920).
