Goodman, Roy (1951– )

English conductor and violinist. He studied at Cambridge and the Royal College of Music, London. He directed the Ensemble of Early Music at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and founded the Brandenburg Consort in 1975. He was co-director of the Parley of Instruments 1979–86, and principal conductor of the Hanover Band from 1986. He has made many recordings of Classical and early Romantic music, with frequent tours to the USA. He was a guest conductor with the German Handel soloists, I Virtuosi di Praga, and Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, and led Handel's Tamerlano in Paris. He conducted a revival of Arne's Artaxerxes in London in 1995.
