Goole

Port on the River Ouse, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, 35 km/22 mi west of Hull; population (2001) 18,700. Principal imports are cereals, wood, iron, steel, and paper; major exports are chemicals, iron, and steel. Maritime industries include shipbuilding, marine engineering, and specialized boat-building. Goole is also a market town serving a wide agricultural area.

The most westerly port on the Humber estuary, Goole is 47 mi/76 km from the open sea and can only accommodate small vessels. There are three dry docks for ship repairs.
