Göppingen

City in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, on the River Fils, 40 km/25 mi east of Stuttgart; population (1994) 254,200. It has a 15th-century church and a 16th-century castle. There are mineral springs and metal, textile, chemical, and tanning industries.
