Gorey

Market town in County Wexford, Republic of Ireland, 29 km/18 mi northeast of Enniscorthy; population (2002) 5,280. The nearby beaches attract tourists; the resort of Courtown 6 km/4 mi to the east has a long, sandy beach.

Gorey has a college for rural science.

Gorey

Village and tourist resort in Jersey in the Channel Islands, 5 km/3 mi east of St Helier. Gorey is overshadowed by Mont Orgueil Castle, on the summit of which are five massive fortifications, built by German occupation forces in World War II.

Oyster fishing was once a major source of income here, and sailing ships were built in the small granite harbour.
