Gorgey, Arthur (1818-1916)

Hungarian general. who fought for Hungary in the 1848 revolution and rose to be commander-in-chief in 1849, but surrendered to the Russians at Vilagos. He was interned at Klagenfurt until 1867. His Mein Leben in Ungarn/My Life and Acts in Hungary was published in 1848-49.

Gorgey was born at Taporez, Hungary.
