Gormley, Antony

    0.02 sec.

Gormley, Antony (1950– )

English sculptor. In his most characteristic works, he has cast his own body in plaster, lead, and fibreglass to create faceless, featureless nudes, often with outstretched arms. His best-known sculptures are Derry Sculpture (1987), two figures, back to back, standing on the ramparts above the city of Derry, Northern Ireland; and Angel of the North, the largest sculpture in Britain, erected near Gateshead in 1998.
