Gorzanis, Giacomo (c. 1525-after 1575)

Italian composer. He published four books of lute music, including numerous dance suites in two or three movements. One of these, consisting of a passo e mezzo and padovana (1561), provides an early example of ‘sonata’ used as a title. He was blind.
