Gossamer Albatross

The first human-powered aircraft to fly across the English Channel, in June 1979. It was designed by Paul MacCready and piloted and pedalled by Bryan Allen. The Channel crossing took 2 hours 49 minutes. The same team was behind the first successful human-powered aircraft (Gossamer Condor) two years earlier.
