Gotovac, Jakov

Gotovac, Jakov (1895–1982)

Yugoslav conductor and composer. He studied at his home town of Split, at Zagreb, and in Vienna. In 1923 he became conductor of the Croatian Opera at Zagreb, and also of a Balkan choral society, with which he travelled in Europe.

Works

operas Morana (1930) and Ero the Joker (1935); incidental music for pastoral play Dubravka (1928); choral works; symphony Kolo and The Ploughers for orchestra; chamber music; songs.
