Gould's Belt

Band in the sky in which the brighter blue stars appear to concentrate. It is inclined at 20° to the Milky Way, which it crosses in the constellations of Vela and Lacerta, and is especially well marked in the southern hemisphere. It is believed to be part of the spiral arm of the Galaxy in which the Sun lies.
