Govan

Part of City of Glasgow unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the south bank of the River Clyde. It possesses some of the largest shipbuilding yards and engineering works in Britain. Originally, coal and iron were the dominant industries in Govan, but the introduction of steel led to the development of shipbuilding.

It was a separate municipality until 1912.
