Grabar, Oleg (1929- )

French-born US art historian, known for his critical works on Islamic art and archaeology. He was born in Strasbourg, France, and emigrated to the USA in 1948. Grabar studied at Harvard University, the University of Paris, and Princeton University, gaining his PhD in 1955. He taught at the University of Michigan (1954-69) and at Harvard (1969).
