In Sikhism, the man or woman who reads from the Guru Granth Sahib (holy book) during the service, which he or she may lead.

The granthi also looks after the Guru Granth Sahib, taking it out in the mornings and putting it away at night. He or she is a knowledgeable and respected member of the Sikh community.
