Grass Lake

Small town in Jackson County, south Michigan; population (1990) 900. It is situated on Grass Lake, 16 km/10 mi east of Jackson, in a dairy and field crop area. Auto parts and other products are manufactured in the town. The Phyllis Haennle Memorial Sanctuary, a large staging area for the sandhill crane, is 8 km/5 mi to the northwest.

Tenneco upgraded its Grass Lake, MI, engineering center to meet growing demand for OEM and aftermarket demand for exhaust and emission systems technology.
En route is Little Meysan Lake - visible only from the surrounding mountains - and 11,500-foot Meysan Lake proper, which lies above Grass Lakes via a faint half-mile path scratched into a rocky slope.
The artists, Council Cargle of Detroit, Nita Engle of Marquette, and Ken Stevens of Grass Lake will receive their prize at an awards luncheon, to be held on October 20, 2004 in Detroit, Michigan.
