Gray, Linda Esther (1948– )

Scottish soprano. She studied in Scotland and with Eva Turner in London. She made her debut as Mimi with the Glyndebourne Touring Company in 1972, and her debut at Glyndebourne as Mozart's Electra in 1974. She sang with the Scottish Opera from 1975 as Donna Elvira, Eva, Ariadne, and Amelia, and made her English National Opera Ensemble debut in 1978 as Micaela, later singing Aïda and Tosca. She sang Isolde with the Welsh National Opera in 1979 and Sieglinde on her debuts at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, and in the USA (at Dallas in 1981). She suspended her career in 1984.
