Green Bank

A site of the US National Radio Astronomy Observatory, located in West Virginia. Its main instruments are the Robert C Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT), the world's largest steerable single-dish radio telescope, whose noncircular aperture has dimensions of 100 × 110 m/328 × 361 ft. Other instruments at the laboratory include a 43-m/140-ft fully steerable dish, opened in 1965, and three 26-m/85-ft dishes. A 90-m/300-ft partially steerable dish, opened in 1962, collapsed in 1988 because of metal fatigue; the GBT was its replacement. The Green Bank site lies at the heart of the US National Radio Quiet Zone.

She was walking on the top of a green bank, with the wind blowing her skirts around her.
