Greendale

Town in Milwaukee County, southeast Wisconsin; population (1990) 15,100. It is situated on the Root River, 16 km/10 mi southwest of Milwaukee. It was one of three ‘garden cities’ built by the US government in the 1930s as an experiment in city planning, with intentionally low-cost housing. It is now a suburban residential community that also produces auto and machine parts.
