Greenland Sea

Area of the Arctic Ocean between Spitsbergen and Greenland, to the north of the Norwegian Sea; area 1,200,000 sq km/460,000 sq mi, mainly ice-bound in winter. It consists of two large basins, reaching depths of 4,850 m/15,900 ft, separated by the West Jan Mayen Rise.
