Greensburg

Town and administrative headquarters of Decatur County, southeast Indiana; population (2000) 10,300. It is located 72 km/45 mi southeast of Indianapolis. Settled in 1822, it is a trade centre for an agricultural and oil and gas producing area. There are stone quarries nearby. Food products, fencing, hardware, shirts, fertilizer, cement blocks, auto accessories, and brooms are among local manufactures.

Greensburg

Town and administrative headquarters of Westmoreland County, southwest Pennsylvania; population (1990) 16,300. It is located 43 km/27 mi east-southeast of Pittsburgh, in a bituminous coal region. It is primarily a light-manufacturing centre, producing glass, metal, machinery, and many other goods. The town is home to Seton Hill College (1883).

Greensburg was founded in the late 18th century by the Revolutionary, Gen Arthur St Clair, who was later president of the Continental Congress and first governor of the Northwest Territory; he is buried in the town.
