Greer

Town in Greenville and Spartanburg counties, northwest South Carolina; population (1990) 10,300. It is located 19 km/12 mi east-northeast of Greenville. Traditionally a farming and textile-mill centre, it has experienced a residential and industrial land boom spurred by the 1990s location of a BMW auto plant to the southeast of the town.
