Gregor, Bohumil (1926– )

Czech conductor. He studied in Prague and worked at the Ostrava Opera 1958–62, where he gave Janáček's Káta Kabanová and The Excursions of Mr Brouček. He worked at the Prague National Theatre from 1962, and brought From the House of the Dead to the Edinburgh Festival in 1964. He has given The Cunning Little Vixen all over Europe and conducted Jenůfa in San Francisco in 1969. In 1970 he returned to Edinburgh with the Prague company to give Janáček's The Makropoulos Case and The Cunning Little Vixen. In Prague in 1993 he led Smetana's The Bartered Bride and Káta Kabanová.
