Gregoriana

Jesuit college founded in Rome as the Collegium Romanum by St Ignatius Loyola in 1551. In 1584 it was made into a university by Pope Gregory XIII. It was the earliest modern seminary and the model for later foundations. Many of the college's pupils becoming missionaries and teachers in northern Europe and the Far East.
