Griffes, Charles T

Griffes, Charles T(omlinson) (1884–1920)

US composer. He studied in Berlin, Germany, with Engelbert Humperdinck and taught there for a time. He returned to the USA in 1907, and became a music teacher at a boys' school in Tarrytown, New York. His early death was brought about by ill health and overwork.
