Griffith, Melanie (1957– )

US film actor. She showed a gift for light comedy as the secretary with ambitions in Working Girl (1988), for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Griffith initially attracted notice as the antiheroine of Something Wild (1986). She received a lifetime achievement award at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival.

Other films include Night Moves (1975), The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990), Pacific Heights (1990), Nobody's Fool (1994), Mulholland Falls (1996), Too Much (1996), Crazy in Alabama (1999), directed by her husband, Spanish actor and director Antonio Banderas, and Cecil B DeMented (2000).

She is the daughter of the US actor Tippi Hedren, most famous for her starring role in Hitchcock's 1963 film The Birds).
