Groote Schuur

Large estate near Rondebosch, Cape Town, South Africa, formerly the home of Cecil Rhodes, to whom there is a memorial. Today it includes the Cape Town residences of the president and deputy president of South Africa, the University of Cape Town and its medical school, the Groote Schuur Hospital, where the world's first heart transplant operation took place in 1968.
