Guadagnini, Giovanni Battista (J B) (1711–1786)| Italian violin maker. He worked in Piacenza, Milan, Cremona, Parma, and Turin. His father, Lorenzo Guadagnini (before 1695–c. 1748), worked in Piacenza, and may have been a pupil of Stradivari. Giovanni Battista's son, Giuseppe Guadagnini (c. 1736–1805), nicknamed Il soldato (‘the soldier’), worked in Como, Pavia, and Turin. |
