Guadiana

River of Spain and Portugal; length 800 km/497 mi. Its headstream is the River Záncara, which rises in the central Spanish province of Cuenca. The Guadiana flows west to Badajoz, then south, weaving across the Spanish-Portuguese border to the Atlantic Ocean at Ayamonte in the province of Huelva.

Near the Záncara are the Ojos del Guadiana lagoons, frequented by wildfowl.
