Guido da Siena (lived 13th century)

Italian painter. A forerunner of Duccio di Buoninsegna and the Sienese School, he worked in the Byzantine style. The date 1221 appears on a Madonna signed by him in the Palazzo Pubblico (town hall), Siena. Some authorities, however, on stylistic grounds and by comparison with other paintings in Siena attributed to him, assign it to about 1270.
