Guilford

Town in New Haven County, south Connecticut; population (1990) 19,800. It is situated on Long Island Sound, 21 km/13 mi east of New Haven. Primarily residential, it is also a resort, with some agriculture and a fishing industry. The town includes a number of seaside communities, including Sachem Head, Leete's Island, and Guilford and North Guilford villages.
