Gulda, Friedrich (1930- )

Austrian pianist. He studied with Bruno Seidlhofer, winning first prize in the Geneva International Pianists' Competition in 1946. He toured Europe in 1947-48, and made his US debut in 1950. Outside the classical repertory he is also well known as a jazz pianist; from 1962 he has given jazz and improvised music concerts.
