Gull, William Withey (1816-1890)

English physician. He was Fullerian professor of physiology at the Royal Institution of Great Britain (1847-49), and a physician and lecturer at Guy's Hospital, London (1858-71).

He was born at Colchester, Essex, and educated at Guy's Hospital, London. He was made a baronet and appointed physician to the queen in 1872. His numerous works include Gulstonian Lectures on Paralysis (1849), Report on Cholera (1854), Hypochondriasis, Abscesses of the Brain (1854), and a memoir.
