Guschlbauer, Theodor (1939- )

Austrian conductor. He studied in Vienna and conducted the Baroque Ensemble there 1961-69. He was chief conductor of the Salzburg Landestheater 1966-68, of the Lyon Opera 1968-75, and of the Linz-Bruckner Symphony Orchestra 1975-83. He was then appointed chief conductor of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, and he led Così fan tutte/All Women Do It there in 1990. He has made guest appearances at the Salzburg, Prague, Aix, and Lucerne Festivals, and with the Vienna, Hamburg, Paris, Munich, and Geneva Operas. He has recorded much music by Mozart, and Cesti's Il Pomo d'Oro.
