Gustafson, Nancy (1956- )

US soprano. After studying in San Francisco she sang there as Freia (on her debut), and as Musetta and Antonia. She appeared in Minnesota and Santa Fe before making her European debut as Rosalinde at Paris in 1985. She sang at Glyndebourne from 1988, in th etitle role of Janáček's Káta Kabanová and as Lisa in The Queen of Spades (1992). She made her debuts at the Chicago and New York Metropolitan Opera Houses in 1989, as Marguerite and Musetta, and at La Scala, Milan, and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1990 and 1993 as Eva in Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg/The Mastersingers of Nuremberg. Her other roles include Amelia Boccanegra, Elettra, and Violetta.
