Gdynia

Port in northern Poland; population (2002) 253,500. It was established 1920 to give newly constituted Poland a sea outlet to replace lost Gdańsk. It has a naval base and shipyards and is now part of the ‘Tri-city’, which includes Sopot and Gdańsk.
