Gymnopédies

Three pieces for piano by Erik Satie, composed in 1888. Nos. 1 and 3 (Lent et triste, Lent et grave) were orchestrated by Claude Debussy and performed in Paris, France, on 20 February 1897.

Gymnopédies refers to Greek dances in honour of Apollo, performed by naked men and boys; Debussy's music has become a popular ballet.
