Hüe, Georges (Adolphe) (1858–1948)

French composer. He studied at the Paris Conservatory, where he obtained the Prix de Rome in 1879. He was a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1922 in succession to Saint-Saëns.

Works operas Les Pantins, Le Roi de Paris (1901), Le Miracle, Titania (after Shakespeare, 1903), Dans l'ombre de la cathédrale (1921), Riquet à la Houppe (after Perrault); ballets Siang Sin and Nimba; pantomime Coeur brisé; incidental music to Rostand's Les Romanesques, Kalidasa's Sakuntala, etc.; symphonies, symphonic legend Rübezahl, and other orchestral works; songs.
