HLA system

Abbreviation for human leucocyte antigen system, a series of gene groups (termed A, B, C, and D) that code for proteins on the surface of cells. If two people have the same HLA types, they are histocompatible (having compatible tissue types). HLA types feature in tissue testing before a transplant.

Professor Bodvar Vandvik of the University of Oslo in Norway, who was interviewed recently, observed: "We don't know the genes that determine a person's susceptibility to MS, but we have good evidence that at least part of the susceptibility may be located in the HLA system.
The Eaton HLA system is evolutionary because it supplements the vehicle's existing transmission, drive shaft, and axle infrastructure," said Uppal.
