Haas, Mary (1910-1996)

US linguist. She specialized in linguistic prehistory and in Thai and American Indian languages. She is the author of Spoken Thai (1946) and Prehistory of Languages (1969).Haas was born in Richmond, Indiana. She gained her PhD from Yale University in 1935, and taught for many years at the University of California, Berkeley.
