Hackettstown

Town in Warren County, northwestern New Jersey; population (1990) 8,100. Hackettstown lies in the Musconetcong River valley, 23 km/14 mi west of Dover.

Hackettstown has light manufactures such as leather, silk products, and other clothing, and is the trading, storage, and distribution point for local vegetables and dairy products, as well as the corporate home to the Mars sweet-manufacturing company. Situated near Lake Hopatcong and Allamuchy Mountain, it is also a resort centre. Centenary College (founded 1867) is located here.
