In Greek mythology, the son of Creon, King of Thebes. In Sophocles' drama Antigone, he was the lover of Antigone.

In the year 1145, Abbot Haimon of Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives in Normandy wrote a famous letter to the monks of Tutbury Abbey in England to tell them of the great work which the Virgin was doing in France and which began at the church of Chartres.
