Old Man of the Sea

In the Arabian Nights, a man who compels strangers to carry him until they drop, encountered by Sinbad the Sailor on his fifth voyage. Sinbad escapes by getting him drunk. In Greek mythology, the Old Man of the Sea describes Proteus, an attendant of the sea god Poseidon.
