Hallström, Ivar (1826-1901)

Swedish pianist and composer. He had private music lessons and studied law at Uppsala University. There he met Prince Gustaf, with whom he wrote an opera that was produced at Stockholm in 1847. After the prince's death he became librarian to Prince Oscar, later Oscar II, and in 1861 he was appointed director of Lindblad's music school, where he taught the piano.
