Halong City

Halong City

Port in Quang Yen (or Quang Ninh) province, northern Vietnam, situated 130 km/81 mi east of Hanoi on the Gulf of Tonkin; population (1989) 115,300. There are large, open-cast anthracite mines (the chief mineral resource), the coal being exported from Halong's own docks; tin and antimony are also mined in the area.

Halong City is divided by a small bay; the west side, a tourist site, was formerly named Bai Chai, and the east side Hon Gai.

Having thrown down a full fry, a plate of spaghetti bolognaise (I know, I was surprised to see it there as a breakfast too),a bowl of fruit, juice & coffee, we were back on our boat on our way back to Halong City.
Upon arrival in Halong City you will board a Chinese-style wooden boat (locals call it "Junk") for a fine seafood lunch and a short cruise to one cave.
The 13 year-old boy was snatched from a busy market in Vietnam's Halong City, tied up and gagged.
