Haltwhistle

Market town in Northumberland, England, 22 km/14 mi west of Hexham; population (2001) 3,800. Haltwhistle lies in the valley of the South Tyne, with the Roman fortification Hadrian's Wall 2 km/1 mi to the north and Featherstonehaugh Castle nearby. There are limestone quarries and paint works here.

Haltwhistle has a largely 13th-century church and the remains of two medieval towers.
