Hämeenlinna

Capital of Häme province, south central Finland; population (2002) 45,100. It is 100 km/62 mi northwest of Helsinki, on Lake Vanajavesi. It has a 13th-century castle.

Hämeenlinna is the birthplace of the composer Jean Sibelius.
