Hamilton, Emma, Lady (c. 1761–1815)English courtesan. In 1782 she became the mistress of Charles Greville and in 1786 of his uncle Sir William Hamilton (1730–1803), the British envoy to the court of Naples, who married her in 1791. After Admiral Nelson's return from the Nile in 1798 during the Napoleonic Wars, she became his mistress and their daughter, Horatia, was born in 1801. After Nelson's death in battle in 1805, Lady Hamilton spent her inheritance and died in poverty in Calais, France.
