| The Little Miami and Whitewater rivers run through the western part of Hamilton County. Most of the county lies within the metropolitan area of Cincinnati, which is its seat. There is diversified industry, varied commercial activity, and substantial suburban development here; gravel is also extracted. Agricultural activity includes dairy, poultry, and livestock farming. |

| Bounded by Georgia to the south, Hamilton County is crossed (northeast–southwest) by the Tennessee River. Walden Ridge forms its northwestern boundary. In the south are the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and parts of Lookout Mountain. Chattanooga and its suburbs and Chickamauga Lake now occupy much of this historically agricultural area, which also has coal and iron mines. |
