Hammond, Norman (1944- )

English archaeologist and anthropologist. A fieldworker of wide range, he is best known for his work on Maya settlements and structures. His books include Ancient Maya Civilization (1982) and Nohmul . . . (1985). Hammond was educated at Cambridge University, England, whwew he gained his PhD. He taught at Cambridge before joining the Rutgers University faculty in 1977.
